As I was working out at the gym the other day … I ran into an old friend of mine I hadn’t seen in years. We attended school and played baseball together. He asked the usually questions?

You married yet? Any kids?

No … I replied. We talked for a few more mins and as I walked away I hear an

Ay …AY … come here young blood

Oh No!…It was old school bruva. Old school bruva has a box, brand new fresh leather ocean pacific fanny pack and looks like he could kill you with one punch.

OSB: Sounds like I just heard that you aint married and u aint got no kids
Trew: Uhhh
OSB: How old are you young blood?
Trew: 28
OSB: I betta notta eva hear about you getting married or having kids EVER
Trew: uhhhh
OSB: I heard about you young blood … I done seen’t you in the papers I know you make your music
Trew: uhhhhhh
OSB: Don’t you mess up yo life

By this point… I’m thinking…how random is this conversation … and only me

OSB: How many grand kids ya mama got
Trew: what’d u say about my mama
OSB: How many grandkids
Trew; Oh … 4
OSB: THAT’S ENOUGH YOUNG BLOOD … she don’t need no mo
Trew: uhhhhh
OSB; You got you a girlfriend ….Wait …don’t answer that … if you do … LOVE HER ENOUGH TO LEAVE HER
Trew:uhhhh
OSB: Don’t you travel and do shows … well the furthest you’ll go is to the grocery Sto …do you want fishsticks every night
Trew:uhhh
OSB: You don’t talk much young blood
Trew: you haven’t given me a
OSB: So any way I use to want a car … nice pretty car …nice pretty blue car… one of them ol Mercasey Benz
Trew; Mercedes
OSB; that’s what I said young blood …. Her and them 2 kids of mine … I luv em … I swear I luv em … but that pretty blue car ….

This kept on for another 20-25 mins with random quotes such as

“Look at me .. I’m a pimp” … “so I said hell yea cuz her cuzin had an ass too”...”grab my arm b-arch”

…until I faked a random knee injury … Old School painted an ugly portrait of what the future could be if I ever picked the wrong mate … but the most important thing I learned … Go to the gym between the hours of 12:30 and 3 am to avoid the crazies.

Hip-Hop Memories 101... Swagged Out

I remember working in Henrico VA & getting off of work ... Driving 4hrs to Carolina to SKIBEATZ studio and starring at all the platinum plaques jay-z signed while waiting for camp lo to finish their session. When I was done I'd sleep under the piano for 2 hrs and then drive back to work

A lot of that energy and a video by Abdul Malik Abbott was lost because some DJs and bloggers hated the song title. I had dragged my feet a bit and in those next few months...everyone had a swag song. That irritated me because ski and Abdul created something special for dead presidents and feelin it visually and musically. Not putting myself in the same lane as jigga ... But I was gonna do something special ...my way.

I remember 1 particular dj ( whose name I won't say) said it would never work...swag was played. Not even an hr later...via twitter...he dropped a record called swag from his new artist

I should've listened to Abdul and not let it stop me because years later... Its my number 1 song on most websites with no promo....  I felt it was always a window down...top down song for people to enjoy...maybe I was write and its time to do something about it.

I've grown from the incident though...I don't judge on first glance anymore...I give everything a chance now

Maybe I should do a kick starter for it and finally get it done :) would love to know what you think.

3:19 am... wow...what a year so far. Some of my readers may know me as the rapper (trew or trew music ... which is increasing becoming a headache because different websites have it labeled differently...making it even harder to find) but lately i've been lucky enough to enjoy my other passions... and not be stuck in a cubicle Recently  i have been in some tv shows, movie, industrial videos...and hopefully soon... some advertisements.

But lets make this clear... the music will continue...its a passion and always will be. It's extremely tough to juggle all of these... try to pay bills and still have time to enjoy life. Its increasingly makes me look like i'm not focused... when thats the furthest thing from the truth. My dream is to be equally successful in all forms of entertainment... while respecting each craft. Being on sets has also increased my creativity. I'm extremely competitive and this new competition has forced me to better.

Cultivating the whole James Crockett Experience is important to me... because the acting isn't new... i've been doing it since first grade...taken classes for years...but was always under the assumption i could only do 1 thing at a time... WRONG.  You can do whatever you want in life...and as much... just be organized.

More Blog post to come...but now i need rest so i can hit the gym and run tomorrow...also looking at hitting a studio this week as i've gotten a lot of material written

Wishing you all the best
